Shutting Down the XP Firewall

If you are using Windows XP and you don't get any search results in active mode, part of the reason can be that XP's built-in firewall is activated. Shut the XP firewall down as follows:

1. Click the Start button, then Settings, then Control Panel, then Network Connections.

2. Right-click on Connection to Local Network, and choose Settings. A new window will appear.

3. Click on the Advanced tab and locate the choice for Firewall. Make sure that it is UNCHECKED.
